Champ du Treilles, CDT Blanc, 2022

£21.00

Why We Like It

Bordeaux, one one hand the preserve of the rich and powerful, on the other hand one of the biggest wine producing regions in the world. It’s a contest of tradition and big business against innovation and risk… or so you would think. Corrine and Jean-Michelle Comme’s approach to viticulture and winemaking at Champ des Trielles has bridged this gap, staring a quiet but formidable change in the crucible of French winemaking.

CdT were one of the first producers in the region to adopt Biodynamic methods in the 90s, then through Jean-Michel’s work at Chateau Pontet-Cantet, he convinced them to adopt he philosophy in 2004 as well, starting somewhat of a revolution in Bordeaux’s traditional heartland.

Being at the forefront of progressive farming is one reason we like CdT, but their location in Saint-Foy-Bordeaux is another. At the eastern end of the Entre-Deux-Mers, this is one of the many Bordeaux satellite appellations that are full of innovative producers who can provide excellent value in this somewhat overblown region.

Don’t be put off by it’s Vin de France classification, the authorities just haven’t caught up yet.

What To Expect

A fine white Bordeaux that blends the three varieties you’d expect but with a higher proportion of Muscadelle than is common. Gentle floral notes float over a touch of honey that will develop should you choose to leave it for long enough.

Semillon, Muscadelle, Sauvignon Blanc / 13% / Saint-Foy Bordeaux, France / 75cl
